Angel Investor and real estate "entrepreneur," Sarosh Kumana is the new owner of the Claridge Hotel, the largest SRO Hotel in Oakland. There have been a large number of evictions at the Claridge, and there seems to be some re-vamping of the hotel with the introduction of Pinecrest Apartments. He is the owner of SFRents, holding many multi-unit properties in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Sarosh Kumana is a real estate entrepreneur and angel investor based in San Francisco, with over 25 years of startup and management experience. He founded and ran a leading California government foreclosure brokerage and a mortgage brokerage company for over 15 years. He is President of Pacific Capital Management, managing member of Junglee LLC, and also manages several other private investment vehicles. He is a member of Health Tech Capital, a limited partner in numerous VC funds, and active with Sand Hill Angels in Silicon Valley as President of the Board of Directors.
The Claridge Hotel showed 257 eviction notices filed with the Oakland Rent Board between 2011 and 2016. Between March, 2014 when Kumana purchased the building and Feb, 2015, 70 eviction notices were filed.
